Orbital Trials is similar to deathmatch, but instead of playing against other players, it is a time trial to kill all the enemies with the single weapon specified. Doing so earns you stars, allowing you to progress to the next weapon, as well as giving you a place on the global and friends leaderboards. Whilst the first levels are quite easy, the game quickly becomes more difficult with the next sets as instead of a nailgun, which allows you to spray, you get a shotgun, then a slowly recharging single shot laser.
By contrast, deathmatch is simply a free-for-all, all v all fight, where everyone is competing to get the points. I'm not sure how the scoring works, but I somehow managed to win the game, despite entering halfway through. You get two guns from the variety in Orbital Trials, one each for left and right click, and an ability, either boost, shield, turret or mines, which is activated by shift.
Overall, this is a fun indie game, with a medium level of difficulty, but a lacking fanbase.
This has been a First Impressions from Thomas (The Stacinator). Bye for now!
