Video Game Character of the Month - November 2019 - Plants vs. Zombies - Crazy Dave

Video Game Character of the Month
November 2019
Plants vs. Zombies
Crazy Dave
Overview:
It's Halloween season. Well, technically just past as we do the Video Game Character of the Month at the beginning of the month but anyway... It's spooky season. And what better way to celebrate this time of Ghouls 'N Ghosts than with a suitably scary recipient of this award. Why Crazy Dave and not a ghost from the likes of P.T., Amnesia or Outlast? Well, because he's Craaazy of course!
And now for some information on Crazy Dave:

His real name is David Blazing
He is the narrator in the original Plants vs. Zombies and its sequel
He is voiced by Orion Acaba in all games besides Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 where he is voiced by Taliesin Jaffe
He wears a white t-shirt, blue jeans and a brown belt
He has a large, brown, unkempt beard and a generally untidy appearance
He wears a large, grey saucepan on his head
He is a gardener
He is the owner of his own gardening shop called Twiddydinkies, which is actually the back of his care
He speaks his own language - 'Crazy Dave'
The plot of Plants vs. Zombies 2 involves Crazy Dave wanting to 're-eat' his taco, having to travel through time to get back to the time before he had eaten it
His time machine is called Penny
He seems to have no thumbs in the in-game artwork, besides in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2
His least favourite zombie is the Bungee Zombie
He is abducted by a Bungee Zombie just before he can tell the player Dr Zomboss's weakness
This Bungee Zombie is then renamed to 'Crazy Dave Zombie'
He sometimes eats food off the floor
His saucepan doesn't fall off his head, even when he is hanging upside down
He hates cats
His design is based on former PopCap employee David Rohrl
He is 36 years old
He is an inventor
There is some speculation that there is either brains or at least some sort of meat in Crazy Dave's taco

Origin of Crazy Dave:
Crazy Dave first appears in Plants vs. Zombies in Level 1-5 to give the player a Wall-nut to play Wall-nut bowling. He appears to be the only other survivor in the zombie apocalypse and helps you throughout your playthrough, buying a Magic Taco off you in Level 4-4 for $1000. He also rewards the player with two Marigolds of random colours and five bags of fertilisers when the Zen Garden is unlocked.

In Plants vs. Zombies 2, he appears after beating Player House - Day 4 and obtaining the hot sauce. Crazy Dave asks for this hot sauce for his taco and appears to love it so much that he once to go back in time to eat it again. He uses his time machine named Penny to do this, first travelling to Ancient Egypt.

In Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare, he is the leader of the Plant Vanquish team

In Plants vs. Zombies Heroes, after the Hero-Tron 3000's malfunction, Crazy Dave has to unite all the Plant Heroes to stop the Zombie Heroes.

Evolution of Crazy Dave:
Before the final boss battle in PvZ, Crazy Dave is about to tell the player Dr Zomboss's weakness, but before he can, he is kidnapped by a Bungee Zombie. In the end credits, Crazy Dave is seen hanging upside down by the Bungee Zombie.

In Plants vs. Zombies 2, Dr Zomboss calls Crazy Dave, David and seems to imply he is a sleeper agent, who will turn the against the player upon saying 'Hypno-Zombonsis'. He eventually re-eats his taco in modern-day.

In Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2, Crazy Dave has to unite the plants from the future after Dr Zomboss successfully conquers the world.

That's all on Crazy Dave, but, as always, if I've made a mistake or forgotten anything, then please don't hesitate to comment (this is especially true for this one, as I couldn't find a definitive list of which PvZ games Crazy Dave has actually been in)! And let us know who you want to win the award next month!

Thanks for reading, Satamer.
